Trivia Tips

Our collection of trivia questions is always growing, with other people continually submitting new questions. So, the main key to getting your questions accepted is to come up with creative questions that no one else has thought of yet.

1. Select a Subject

The first step is selecting a school subject from the list. Start with your favorite subject in school - that's usually the one where you know the most, so you'll be able to think of a lot of questions right away. When you are done with questions for your favorite subject, you can then move on to others.

2. Enter a Question - BE CREATIVE!

Geography example (OK): "Which of the 50 United States is farthest north?"
MORE CREATIVE: "Which of the following states lies west of the Mississippi River?"

History example (OK): "Who was the first President of the United States?"
MORE CREATIVE: "Which of the following Presidents died while still in office?"

Here's a tip - FOOL YOUR FRIENDS! Use minor details that are related to well-known topics.

For example, many people know that President Abraham Lincoln was shot in 1865 while he was watching a play at Ford's Theater in Washington, DC. But some may not know the title of the play he was watching ("Our American Cousin").

Also, many people may know that the tallest mountain in the US is Mount McKinley. But fewer people may know the state or mountain range where it is located (Alaska).

Once you come up with a few good questions, they will spark other ideas. For example, a question about the Great Lakes might make you think of other questions about lakes, or a question about the seasons (spring, summer, fall, winter) might make you think of questions relating to weather. Again, remember to think of questions that might fool your friends!

3. Provide Answers (1 correct and 3 incorrect)

Thinking of questions is one thing, but you also need to know the correct answer so you can provide it along with the question. Multiple choice questions will be shown with 4 answers, so you must also give 3 answers that are incorrect.

Here's another tip: The answer to the question should not be obvious, so the best 'incorrect' answers are ones that are similar to the correct answer. For example, for the question "What is the captial of Wisconsin?" (Madison), don't give incorrect answers like Chicago, New York, Los Angeles since these are all well-known cities that most people know are not even in Wisconsin. Better incorrect answers would be other Wisconsin cities, such as Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Sheboygan.

4. Difficulty Level

Click one of the buttons to pick if you think getting the question correct will be Easy, Medium, or Difficult for kids your age.
If you are older than 22, you will also select the age group for which the question is intended.
